RETIREMENT/TERMINAL LEAVE/SEVERANCE: DATES AND INFORMATION...
The Terminal Leave Program is the faculty severance benefit provided to eligible Faculty Union Members who are retiring.
1. Faculty members participating in this program remain on the payroll until a set percentage of their salary is paid. Faculty members with 20 years or more of full-time service are eligible for a 35% payout of their salary. Those with 25 years or more of full-time service are eligible for a 70% payout of their salary. Once the payouts are complete, a faculty member is effectively retired.
2. On Terminal Leave, faculty remain on the payroll and will continue to receive pension contributions, along with health and dental insurance.
3. Faculty members are to advise their chairs or directors, the Executive Director of Human Resources and the Faculty Union President, in writing, of their intended retirement date six (6) months prior to that date.
4. No more than 10 faculty members per academic year shall be eligible for the Terminal Leave Program. If there are more than 10 applicants, seniority will determine eligibility.
